Tell us about yourself.

From the Northland, but office out of the Waddell & Reed Leawood branch. After 8 years at Morgan Stanley as a financial advisor and sales assistant, I left to start my own practice at Waddell & Reed. I have a detail-oriented mind that helps me perform as a retirement planner, but my real passion -- and the reason I work this sometimes strenuous job -- is so I can connect people with each other and to the local arts scene in Kansas City, specifically independent filmmakers, potential funders and patrons, and locally-owned theaters. My dream is to build a business of advising local artists to become financially independent of their day jobs and be able to securely pursue their own life's passion, and that they will no longer have a lack of financial security be an excuse to keep them from creating.

Why did you join KC Young Professionals?

Hunting around at different networking groups in town to look for those specific parties listed above who may benefit from introductions to each other, and who might need assistance in organizing a financial plan to get their self-employed creative career on track. Also, young networking groups contain those in their 20s and 30s like myself. The choices of venue are closer to my tastes than groups with an older demographic would have.
