Tell us about yourself.

I'm a PhD student in sociology looking to enter the nonacademic job market sometime this summer. My general professional interests center around understanding the role technology plays in our every day lives and how users can appropriate various kinds of technologies and "rebrand" those within a cultural sphere. I have experience in research planning, study design, study implementation, qualitative data analysis/ interpretation, and writing results. I am passionate about taking time to learn how systems of people work and then determining new solutions and outlooks to problems. I believe that all solutions require an in-depth understanding of how they can be effectively incorporated into existing infrastructures. Uncovering the patterns in how people think and act in relation to the objects that are in their lives can tell us much about the lived reality of how and why people do what they do. This is an invaluable tool for developing insights on appropriate customer relations, improving organizational effectiveness, marketing strategies, product use, and future product development.
